Look at the tiny details

Wedding flowers, cakes and dresses are visual feasts. When you look at a photo of a bouquet, you see the pretty roses and the blush pink color. But look closer, and that's where the beauty is. The curl of a petal. The fullness of a flower that's just about to bloom. All the different shades of white in that one flower.
Slow down that elevated pulse of yours by taking the time to literally smell the roses. Stop in at a florist or a nursery and wander among the potted flowering plants, smell the scent of lilacs and gardenias, pick up a few Gerbera daisies to place on your desk at work or your kitchen counter.
If you live near a park or a wooded path, get out into nature and smell that rich scent of the earth. If you're near a lake or the ocean, just go sit there for a half hour and soak in the environment. Look at the details in each wave, the curl of the water, the foam washing up on shore, the pristine white seashells or the sky-blue sea glass you find along the beach.
Are you city-bound? Can't get to an ocean? Is there a pet shop near you, with a wall of aquarium tanks, filled with colorful exotic fish? That would do.
This harmony infusion doesn't cost you a thing. It's just being in the right place at the right time and seeking out some beauty. It's one of the best ways to escape your wedding stress -- and, actually, your wedding as a whole -- and really forget about the worries of your day. Mix it up, too...sometimes you'll go alone, and sometimes you'll go with your fiance, or your mother, or your best friend. (For safety's sake, bring someone along with you if you're headed into a forest for a little nature walk). We're just getting into fall here in the northeast, and the colors are already starting to dot the trees where I live. You can bet I'll be out there for walks and bike rides, soaking in the beauty all around me. And when you really focus in on the beauty of the details, you won't believe how relaxed you'll be.
